At the moment, using an LED light bulb is a really good option to replace existing halogen GU10 bulbs.  The input electrical power is not directly converted to light, but is used to help extract some heat from a hot (135 deg C) reservoir, convert a fraction of that extracted heat to coherent work (the light emitted by the LED), and dump the unused (wasted) heat into a colder reservoir (the ambient environment, quoted in the paper as approximately 25 deg C).
