Which LED GU10 spot bulbs does My Sheerled Lighting recommend?
If you don't want to read all the information about each light bulb to make your own choice, these are our basic recommendations:
Best all rounder - Dimmable 6.8w Sun-Star LED GU10
A quality product with lots of light and it's dimmable
For perfect fit-and-forget GU10 LED lighting, we recommend the 6.8w warm white Sun-Star bulb from Prolite. It's a great direct replacement for an old style 50w halogen lamp in terms of brightness, light colour and dimming. The only gotcha is that it's slightly longer at 60mm, rather then the standard 55mm for a halogen lamp. This will not be a problem in most light fittings.
- Warm white
- 400 lumens
- Fully dimmable
- Very solid construction
Best non-dimmable option - 6w LED GU10 Halogen-Style COB
Plenty of light but no dimming
The 6w GU10 COB produces a lot of light (450 lumens) and has a 'halogen-style' COB LED which simply means that from the front it looks like the halogen bulbs that it replaces.
It has a very useful 45 degree beam angle, a nice warm colour and at a very competitive price. It is also the same physical length as a halogen bulb making it a great retro fit replacement. Also available in daylight whiteand dimmable version.
- Halogen-effect 'COB' LED - looks like a halogen bulb
- Warm white
- 450 lumens
- Retro-fit - the same physical size as a halogen GU10 bulb
Best budget option - GU10 4w LED (fresnel refractor)
Great value GU10 LED bulb that's as cheap as chips (nearly)
The GU10 4w LED (fresnel refractor) is currently the best value LED GU10 lamp that we have. It might not be the brightest, but it's certainly no slouch. Ideal for living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms, it features a flat-fronted Fresnel refractor for wider light distribution, has a very useful 50 degree beam angle and a great warm colour - although also available in cool white (5000K).
- Warm white
- 250 lumens
- Non-dimmable
- Flat-fronted & smooth sides making it easy to install into recessed ceiling downlights.
